He ate two files in short time; after 22km mountain biking

Left home 4:17, picked curryman around 4:45 and joined ICHIGO and his wife there 8AM there as scheduled. According to the web site, water level showed 0.27m and I had a kind of optimistic feeling before coming. But my thought changed a little after seeing the actual stream there.

We had to keep biking up along the river to find the clear colored and moderate water leveled stream.

After 22km biking, we found the better stream looked like we could fish(11AM).

Caught small but first fish at 11:12 at the lower branch stream.  Next I checked the branch stream upper section though, there was no sense of fish... So I gave up keep fishing there and headed for them upstream.

Caught several small ones, but couldn't catch any good one for a long time...

14:13 The fantastic moment has come!

He took my Humpy pattern very slowly at the shallow first.
I could set a hook once though, felt no tension soon because of line break. Its position was a little below the connection leader and tippet, so it must be damaged between the rocks on the land. Oh my god... But I kept trying without any give up.

He reacted Wright's Royal pattern next, but couldn't take my fly well. I tied #20 Griffith's Gnat as the third one. After several casts, could set a hook. He tugged so strong in the riffle, so I paid utmost attention not to let him go. Stepped down several water drops with him. Can you see two files on above pic? I found Humpy pattern(below) in his mouse. He surely ate two files in short time. It was definitely my first experience. What a day!

Blissful time.

33cm nice buck.

HARIGANEMUSHI from the ICHIGO's fish.

Threat of nature...

Crazy folks... See you again at the river edge.

At a loss, twice...

9/10 Took a day off on Monday.
Made a preparation at 6:04.
Saw a flooded and colored stream around 6:15.
That was it...

9/16, on the day of NAMIE AMURO's retirement.
6:30 Joined ICHIGO and his wife around the gate.
We left there about 7:30.
Did see very colored and high float stream soon...
I was at a loss twice in a week...

We climbed up to find the hole we were able to fish. But could find nothing...
10:07 Stopped by the lodge to get information and soft cream.

It was my first visit.

Crazy biker...

11:35 Could catch small IWANA from the shallow near the bank.

Strict teacher and obedient student.

16:03 It was a kind of miracle.

About 26 nice AMAGO!
Thanks god and ICHIGO!!

17:49 OTSUKARESAMADESHITA...
See you there next year again.

Superb weekday fishing trip

3:40 left home.
6:40 arrived around the gate entrance.
6:56 almost got ready for start biking and fishing adventure.

7:38 Checked the branch stream first.

7:51 First one was IWANA.
Got several good reactions though, totally it was difficult situation because of high water. Decided to move to the main stream after about 2h research.

9:43 Met MAMUSHI? snake on the way down to the bike...
Around 11AM, restarted fishing on the main stream.

Just 12:00 got the 2nd IWANA.

This weevil was popped out of IWANA's mouth.

Perfect sunny day today.

13:09 First AMAGO as 3rd one.

13:42 4th.

14:00 5th. Reaction got better though, they often refused parachute pattern today.

Changed to the other fly pattern to the Humpy.

14:47 Size upped 6th one, good AMAGO.
He took the Humpy pattern as soon as it dropped on the surface. Very exciting scene.

Basically sunny though, it was hard to see the fly because I forgot to take the polarized glasses today...

16:06 a little size upped 7th good fish. Good fighter.

I thought no more big fish today though...

16:33 8th was 27.5cm so nice one!
It took several minutes to land him after hooking.

Proof of the wildness.
Very happy to catch him as the last fish of today.

17:02 Finish fishing.
17:10 Started walking the dart road.
18:10 Could be back to the parked bike.

18:40 Could return to the car after 0.5h biking.
22:30 back after taking hot spring and meal. Well done!

Searching for AMAGO; Just 3days after last fishing trip

4:46AM at Lake I. Left home 2:50 and arrived at the parking space at 5:30. Must be the earliest record of mine.

6:45 Found the earlier fisherman's bike at the entrance of the hole A which I aimed at today. Changed the plan to B. Parked my bike a little bit lower than it and walked downstream for a while. My plan B was to enter the hole A after 2 or 3 hours later.  Ate the breakfast as first(7:15).

9:17 Joyful first AMAGO of mainstream after 2 hours complete silence.

Clouds covered the mountain sometimes.
I kept fishing there until 11AM though, got almost no reaction from fish...
Changed to the Plan C. Moved to the other hole and started fishing past 12PM.

13:16 He is the one I wanted to see here.

25cm perfect buck AMAGO trout.

13:44 Stopped fishing there and walked back to my bike.

14:04 Arrived there, and go up by bike a little.

Sometimes it showed the blue sky.

14:27 Let's check this stream as the last of today.
I met the other fisherman going down along the river soon.

14:49 First IWANA as 3rd fish of today.

Why do you wanna stay in the water?

15:29 Took a short break because the rain got heavy a little.

15:37 4th.

16:06 5th one just same sized cookie cutter.

16:11 6th one. Got activated a little by little?

16:16 7th one after 5 minutes.

16:27 8th was not IWANA but superb AMAGO!
I was so glad because I didn't expect it.

16:53 added one more IWANA as 9th. And missed two fishes I could set a hook once... Stopped fishing at 17:16, picked my bike at 17:47, and could be back to the car at 19:25 not so dark. I was so exhausted though, got fine after getting into the hot spring. Would like to give another try to this river soon hopefully.
