Regrettable mistake... Mainstream Evening Spotty rise

In the morning, visited the branch river to check the new short rod performance. I need to get used to handle it though, not bad feeling. Could see only one chase though, he didn't take my fly...

Moved to the mainstream around noon. Saw a few HIRATA and Caddis hatch. Since I couldn't find the rise, checked riffle with HIRATA parachute. But the number of caddis was getting increased, so I changed my fly to caddis emerger. After passing a little, there was certain chase! First reaction this year on the mainstream area. It was only chance there.

Moved again and again to the last hole for the evening. I could see many aquatic insects there. ERABUTA, KOKAGE, HIRATA,

Caddis,

and crane fly.

Noticed something different and I couldn't find that it was a rise. I cast caddis emerger, and...

Silver body, black back fin, everything was perfect, if I could land him...

Visited OSHINO as Y-kun's mentor

OSHINO was cover with white snow fell last night.

OKUMA's hatch was so nice around noon though, 

it was a little difficult for Y-kun likely.

Lance, you shouldn't cast before he catch the first one,

even if some big boys continued rising for OKUMA...

I waited,

and waited, and OKUMA's hatch was ended...

And Baetis's hatch got started.

I was surprised that he knew Owyhee and South Fork of Boise river!

Short Rod

It's been a year since I wanted to get it. And eventually!! A kind of mixed feeling exciting and a little nervous. Wondering if I can handle it well.

Skunked again on the mainstream...

Arrived one of major holes of KANOGAWA mainstream around 10AM. Should be best time for the hatch though, there was no sign of any aquatic insects...

Moved to the 2nd hole around noon. As soon as I arrived there, something while was popping out of the stream. It was this HIRATA mayfly(TANIHIRATA?). I expected that the hatch will be increased, but it was the only one...

I tried the blind fishing at the several riffles and got no reaction.

My fishing around the mainstream has got started very slowly...

Because of heavy rain in short time

When I arrived there noon, the main stream showed very high water

and milk coffee color. If I could leave home 2 hours earlier...

So I headed for another branch looking for the stream I can fish.

But the situation got worse there also...

Returned my home area once and could find the better stream.

So pretty one though,it was the first and last one.

Should just thank you for taking my fly.

Would like to try the mainstream soon...

First fishing on the KANOGAWA mainstream

Around noon, checked 1st hole very carefully looking for OKUMA.

But the mainstream kept just silence.

Could see a few stoneflies there.

2nd hole was also as same as 1st hole.

Did move to 3rd hole with ruffle and did blind fishing there.

Got no reaction from fish, and saw only one OKUMA's hatch and some craneflies there.

Tried another riffle though...

Could see little aquatic insects, no fish and many fishermen today.

But it got definitely started! Keep fishing, Lance.

Could see several Baetis there.

Could do 30min practice for next week.

Likely he got a new starter kit there.
