Almost perfect IWANA fishing; Lance's long summer vacation day18

Curryman and I happened to go fishing together, we decided it just yesterday. 21:00 last night, curryman picked me up and slept in his car.
5:26 Time to wake up.
Water level showed 0.19m on the web.

Bikes on the carrier.

Mosquito killer and a cup of coffee.

9:40 First fish at downstream from the moderate depth and flow. There was almost no reaction from the deep hole in the early morning. After almost 1.5h quick research, I headed for the curryman at upstream.

11:13 2nd good fish above the bridge. Got two more strikes from same riffle. It must have stocked many fishes there.

11:27 Superb 3rd one was caught just in front of the dam by the formed beetle parachute pattern.

28cm handsome one, he took my fly very slowly after floating from the bottom having less stones.

There were some signs of fall coming.

13:21 took a rest having lunch and watching curryman's fishing.
I did only one mistake which I missed the huge fish by the line break just after setting a hook. I changed the tippet to longer 5x.

13:40 4th one was the fighter.

30.5 cm joyful SYAKUGAMI IWANA!

14:04 5th one.

14:15 6th one, good pace.

14:48 this nice 7th one has long story.

I found him in the pool rising intermittently. It must be the one which I couldn't catch at the last fishing trip. I added 7x tippet and tied #20 black bodied spent type first. But he didn't notice it because he stayed not on the surface but on the middle range. So I changed it to #20 peacock bodied danima pattern. After several casts, he took it very slowly. Got it! Could catch the rising fish by the sight fishing (my current thema).

28cm so nice male one.

We decided to go back to the bike soon.

15:12 The last one there as 8th was also nice and strong 27cm.

We started walking back around 15:30.

16:38 could return to the bike.

17:17 First evening fish as 9th.

17:35 10th one was the good looked like 9 SUN sized from the slow pocket water, but he escaped from my camera...

17:40 10th from the riffle.

17:53 Today's last one as 11th was from slow water pocket again. Looked like 8-9 SUN sized good fighter. The fly pattern was black spider parachute through the evening.

18:20 left the and arrived at the gate 19:20.

It was almost perfect game today except one line break. Keep enjoying your long summer vacation(once in 20 years), Lance!

Lance's summer vacation day 12; Couldn't set a hook on good floating AMAGO...

Left my parent home around 4:30 day after annual baseball game there.
7:15 arrived the parking space crowded with many cars...
Saw many fishermen around downstream though, there was none around upstream. So dropped my bike at the entrance of AIT and walked down a little.

8:57 Got started fishing below the entrance of AIT.
Water level was the lowest one I've ever seen. Most of the section didn't work because of the low water. Walking upstream searching the pool and the deep riffle.

9:06 Could see 1st one soon on #16 parachute ant.

Soon, found the big good AMAGO floating and rising something on surface at the edge of the pool!!! Changed my fly to #14 Renegade and added 6x tippet longer. Could do good first cast, and he took my fly slowly and suspiciously. But couldn't set a hook when I rose my rod... Maybe I should have chosen smaller fly. I waited for a while though, he never flew up. I decided to try it again later today.

9:33 a little size upped 2nd one escaped from the net before I took a pic.

12:17 beautiful AMAGO as the third one took my #14 peacock bodied EHC from the bottom of the big pool.

13:06 First IWANA as the forth one from the riffle.

13:22 the fifth one was the biggest today from the deep rapid riffle.

I thought it must be good AMAGO first though, it was nice 28cm IWANA by the formed beetle parachute pattern. Around 14:00, I decided not to walk up any more and began to be back to the bike.

14:56 Could be back to the bike after almost 1 hour walk. Went down with the bike a little and restarted fishing. Soon I could set a hook on good AMAGO at the edge of the pool by #16 ant parachute! But he escaped doing rolling many times...

And could see big AMAGO at the same pool which I found him in the morning. But he got so nervous because of my mistakes in the morning that I couldn't make him bite my #20 giffith's gnat any more...

Just before the end of fishing today, missed one good one's take rising up just in front of the big stone. Stopped fishing around 17:15 and picked my bike around 17:45.

18:38 could return to the car before the dark.
Would like to come here again soon.

Lance's long summer vacation DAY 5; From OSHINO to NARITA

Since I lost the hit fly(#22? trico spinner pattern bought in Boise ten years ago) of last OSHINO trip which worked well in the evening as imitation of KUSHIGE. I tied several small spent type yesterday.

From #20 to #26.

Today I had time to the evening, visited OSHINO.
7:53 ready for fishing.

This YAMAME near the bank at my side,

kept rising nicely though,

he was too nervous to fish...

9:05 Could meet the real jewel of OSHINO!

39cm so wild red banded OSHINO rainbow by wet fly.

9:30 32cm big YAMAME which I couldn't catch at the last trip.

#20 black bodied hen hackle spent one tied yesterday worked perfectly!

9:58 Just 30cm so nice YAMAME also!
Very good pace.

Fly was almost same but different body color, brown.

After this one, I visited the fly shop 'River's Edge' to buy something. And met D-chan and F-kun who went to MONTANA this summer. Fun to talk to them!

12:00 Moved downstream.

12:58 Rainbow by white marabou as the fourth one.

FUTASUJI MONKAGERO's dun which just hatched in front of me.

15:36 Got this brown by the sight nymphing #16 pheasant tail.
Just after talking with D-chan.

Time limit was almost there...

15:50 the fifth one was rainbow by spent one.
And added two more small ones as the 6th and 7th.

16:30 Caught this one as 8th and said good bye to D-chan and F-kun.
It is time to go, Lance.

Could pick my daughter up just as scheduled...
