Lance's long summer vacation DAY 5; From OSHINO to NARITA

Since I lost the hit fly(#22? trico spinner pattern bought in Boise ten years ago) of last OSHINO trip which worked well in the evening as imitation of KUSHIGE. I tied several small spent type yesterday.

From #20 to #26.

Today I had time to the evening, visited OSHINO.
7:53 ready for fishing.

This YAMAME near the bank at my side,

kept rising nicely though,

he was too nervous to fish...

9:05 Could meet the real jewel of OSHINO!

39cm so wild red banded OSHINO rainbow by wet fly.

9:30 32cm big YAMAME which I couldn't catch at the last trip.

#20 black bodied hen hackle spent one tied yesterday worked perfectly!

9:58 Just 30cm so nice YAMAME also!
Very good pace.

Fly was almost same but different body color, brown.

After this one, I visited the fly shop 'River's Edge' to buy something. And met D-chan and F-kun who went to MONTANA this summer. Fun to talk to them!

12:00 Moved downstream.

12:58 Rainbow by white marabou as the fourth one.

FUTASUJI MONKAGERO's dun which just hatched in front of me.

15:36 Got this brown by the sight nymphing #16 pheasant tail.
Just after talking with D-chan.

Time limit was almost there...

15:50 the fifth one was rainbow by spent one.
And added two more small ones as the 6th and 7th.

16:30 Caught this one as 8th and said good bye to D-chan and F-kun.
It is time to go, Lance.

Could pick my daughter up just as scheduled...

Fly Fishing is always uncontrollable...

Through the last weekend's experience, I judged that just normal parachute pattern was the most effective choice for now so far. I think its floating position is the trigger for the fish's appetite.

3:48 AM at hole F first time this season,
waited the rise's start in the dark alone feeling a kind of funny.
Rises got started as I expected, but they ignored my fly completely...
I felt the other type of hatch had occurred. Saw many caddis there. It was quite new experience there. Moved to the upper hole since the rise got stopped before 5:30 AM.

5:42 My first late fish by the parachute pattern.
There was several rises and takes until 7:25 though, couldn't set a hook them...
It is fly fishing itself as you know, Lance.

I think I need to take counter measure for the next time. Difficulty must be always fun for me not only on FF but also on the job. Keep trying, Lance.

Prepared DD pattern though...

My guess was KUROMADARA DD pattern should be worked today.
But it was not right guess. After the rise got started around 4:00 AM, I spoiled about twenty minutes...

4:20 1st one by the black parachute pattern.
( I missed the one in front of me just before this fish)

4:25 added one more.

I found that that rise was good one's.

Got it after several jumping and strong long fight.

4:34 So wild OSHINO-bow as 3rd one.

KUROMADARA's male dun.

And female dun.

After KUROMARA fevered rises, I couldn't find the solution for some spotty rises for a while.

7:16 Spent Caddis pattern gave me this jewel of OSHINO.

So beautiful brownie as 4th one.

Need to make another preparation for the next try.

The reason why I visited OSHINO this morning again

One was that I would like to check these foam floating nymph's effect.

Second one was that I saw huge brown trout at this hole yesterday.

4:04 1st cookie cutter sized bow.
Some rises got started very sporadically around 4AM.

4:07 2nd one after very short interval.
One of the merits of the foam fly.
No dry power was needed.

4:11 3rd one after four minutes later.

4:27 4th one after struggling a little at the upper riffle.
At the riffle, some fishes ignored my fly completely.
And I hooked one good fish though, couldn't catch it there.
After above, I could meet the 4th one at the original hole.

4:32 Set a hook to the good fighter!
But he was hooked off after he pulled my fly line a lot...
I should fight slowly and patiently...

4:37 Last one as 5th fish today.
Learned lots of things this morning also.

Got back home past 8AM.
Start of Lance's Sunday as their dad.

Bigger and more voljuminous

Considering its floating performance and visibility,
I would like to modify 'Crow' MADARA pattern.

From #18 to #16, and lager amount of deer hair.
Looking forward to next trial for KUROMADARA!

'Crow' MADARA

Let's use this crow's feather for the KUROMADARA fly's body.

Hair winged dun.

Crippled dun.

Looking forward to next trip.
